What do i do?

There is this guy that i really like at school and i have his number and he is really shy. i badly want to ask him out but yet i think that i want more for him to ask me out im not sure. we text back and forth almost every night. one tim he asked if i wanted him to come over or not. i said i dont kow and he kept asking and i kept replying with the same answer he finally stopped after 5 times and hasnt tlked much AT ALL since then. the only thing hes said is hi and nm ! so lets say i did ask him out how should i go about doing it?
